Our old brick mailbox was looking tired. Some of the bricks had cracked and others had fallen off. The door had come apart from the hinge on one side.
And we did not have a locking mailbox – which meant we had to watch our deliveries closely and have high-value mail delivered to a post office box
to foil mail thieves. We decided it was time to repair the damage, and we knew we wanted to keep that lovely old brick – which nicely goes with the brick façade in the front our house. We contracted with Adrian Oceguera, who made a couple of suggestions for secure, locking mailboxes and reviewed design options with us. He ordered the mailbox we wanted, took apart the old mailbox bricks, increased the size of the concrete pad, and used our existing bricks to build our new mailbox. He was not cheap, but we are pleased with his work, which he completed in less than a day. You can reach Adrian at (559) 229-0799. Please tell him that we recommended him to you!
We walk our neighborhood almost every morning, and we sometimes see evidence of mailbox theft: open mailbox doors, and pieces of mail strewn about on sidewalks and streets. That is why we highly recommend a locking mailbox. Another way to help protect your mail is to sign up for Informed Delivery. The US Postal Service sends you a daily email to inform you about what mail is coming to your home.
